about
vMeme (pronounced vee-meem) is a structure of thinking which manifests in human behavior & development, social dynamics, systems, choices, directions and culture at large. The perspective that aesthetics of art goes beyond physical, aesthetic and economic value is what prompts the establishment of vMeme Contemporary Art Gallery, a curator-run space founded by an art historian who wishes to have an art space readily available for curatorial projects devoid of pressures from market and institutional forces), and that supports Philippine contemporary artists who integrate advocacy in their practice. It is intended to provide a space for concept- and advocacy-led exhibition projects dealing with art history and historiography, environmental advocacy, human rights, women’s and children’s rights, socio- political issues and pushing the boundaries of form, content and audience. The artworks presented in vMeme exhibitions and collection represent a culture of hope and freedom for art, artists, communities and our society.
While on lockdown, vMeme exhibitions are held online on this website and vMeme's instagram and facebook accounts. When all return to mobility, vMeme's gallery spaces are located at:
- 2/F Commercenter Building 2, Filinvest Ave cor. Commerce Ave and East Asia Drive, Filinvest Corporate City Alabang
- 3/F Estancia Mall East Wing, Capitol Commons, Pasig City
